We look “across the pond” for this week’s featured user who hails from the United Kingdom. Within the ShopLook community she goes by @ampersands-1, but behind that username is a woman named Verity. We are excited about this opportunity to tell you more about her as this week’s featured user!
Verity is a Graphic Designer, which should come as no surprise to her ShopLook followers. She has been filling our feeds with her gorgeous sets since April, 2020.
In addition to her skillful designs, she is also an active member of the ShopLook community. She’s a regular when it comes to creating and participating in challenges, and the encouraging comments and feedback that she provides fellow users made her an easy choice for this week’s featured user.
Check out some of her top designs and read her full Q&A below.
What about these sets make them your favorite?
The outfits were spontaneous ideas, the fact they are all different. I probably spent the most time on these in terms of layout.
What is your favorite style decade?
60s! I love the prints, the handbags and the hairstyles!
Do you have any style icons?
I don’t have a style icon but I love the Parisian style, everything they wear is so chic and effortless.
If you had to choose one thing to wear with every outfit for a week, what would it be?
A chunky necklace, I love how it changes an outfit, it can dress up anything.
What is something that you would never wear, and why?
Crocs, I just think there’s better footwear out there!
What is something that you would love to wear, but just don’t ever have the chance to?
Does a Chanel suit count? Just can’t afford it lol
When you design a set, what is the first element that you add to your canvas?
Usually text or a photo.
What is something that you (almost) always include in your sets?
Tell us about something that you recently purchased and that you absolutely love.
I’m loving palazzo pants! I got a gorgeous pair from Zara, you might see some pop up in my sets.
If you could only listen to one album for an entire week, what would it be?
Ley Lines - Flor
Are there any trends that you once tried, but now they make you cringe?
Footless leggings worn with denim skirts.
What is your dream job?
To work for ShopLook.
What inspired you to start creating on ShopLook, and what keeps bringing you back?
Was on Polyvore for a bit then it closed down, was so excited to hear from a friend about this app, so I decided to try it, just love the freedom to be creative with clothes I wish I owned, love the community too. Everyone is so nice and supportive especially when you win a contest everyone is genuinely happy for you and me for them.
What advice do you have for other users looking to improve their creative process?
Visit other users as much as possible, talk to them about their process, watch movies and build your library of your favourite items. Sometimes an item can spark a great outfit idea.
