Featured user: @sc-styles

This week it’s all about @sc-styles. This featured user lives in Philadelphia and offline she is better known as Shelby (or, “Shelbz” to friends). I always keep an eye out for her latest sets when scrolling through my feed because they have such a cool and consistent editorial style.

Check out a few of our favorite @sc-styles outfits and read her full Q&A answers below.

How long have you been creating?

I have been creating sets for a few years now. I first started creating sets when a friend of mine introduced me into Polyvore, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I always looked up to fashion inspirations like Rihanna who always was a fashion risk taker. I have also been inspired by video games that have a large character creation tool that lets me express my styling ideas that you wouldn’t normally see in everyday life. Games like The Sims series really inspired me.

Favorite fashion decade?

90s fashion has to be my favorite fashion decade. I like to think of it as an era of edgy twist on everyday wear.

Describe your personal style in three words:

Minimalist, Casual, Comfort

Who are your fashion icons?

For risk takers I would say Rihanna, Beyonce, and Zendaya are my top style icons. For my minimalist style I would say stars like Victoria Beckham and Mary Kate & Ashley Oslen.

What is something that you could wear with everything for a week?

Sweatpants. I’m all about comfort and you can’t go wrong with a good sweatsuit outfit. You can wear it practically in any season of the year and still look stylish.

Something that you would never wear?

Up until now I would have said crocs, but now I would say anything with latex.

Something you would love to wear but haven’t?

Ivy park, and the only reason I can’t is because it sells out before I can get anything. Lol 😂

Something that you (almost) always include in your sets?

Text fillers. It helps make my sets look like they are coming straight from a magazine.

Do you have advice for others looking to improve their creation process?

Stay true to your own vision of style and expression.

What is something that others might not know about you?

That I’m a fan of professional wrestling & gaming and that some of my fashion inspiration comes from many female wrestlers and video game characters.

Album you could listen to on repeat for a week?

Amerie - Touch

What is your dream job?

To be able to travel the world and style people from all walks of life.
