Since joining ShopLook last Fall, Lyla’s designs have gained quite a following from users across the community. Her sets are always eye-catching, and the number of sets that she regularly publishes leave no doubt that this girl is bursting with creativity.
Creativity is not the only reason that she has a place in hearts, however. Her active participation in the ShopLook community and the support she offers to fellow users make it an easy choice for us to feature her this week.
Lyla hails from New York, and her savviness makes it easy to forget that she is so young. When Polyvore disappeared, she and her mother created ShopLook accounts together and her journey as @looksbylyla began.
If you were to meet Lyla in real life, you’d most likely find her rocking denim shorts, tank tops, and a pair of Vans. Never mess with her though, because she carries some serious knockdown fighting skills with her wherever she goes.

What do all of your favorite sets have in common?
They are all totally my style! I would wear all of them! I also feel like they are some of my best layouts and I’m really proud of them!
What’s the first thing that usually goes on your canvas when you begin to create a new set?
Normally a picture and build a set off of it, or a drawing, or sometimes even a piece of text.
Can you describe your personal style with three words?
Cute, sassy, and grunge.
How do you choose what you’re going to wear each day?
I normally go into my closet and pick an item (shoes, shirt, pants, skirt..) and have fun building an outfit off of that : )
Are there other ShopLook users that you look to for inspiration?
Yes! Actually @abbymae, @ampersands-1, and many others! So many people inspire me! ❤️❤️
What advice would you give to other users that are looking to improve their creative process?
Be yourself! Never copy, make what you love! It doesn’t matter if anyone else loves your work, you should be proud of your work, no matter what.
